Analytical determination of some metal ions by some carbohydrazones

Description

Three carbohydrazones were synthesized by coupling of carbohydrazide with salicylaldehyde to give symmetrical and asymmetrical carbohydrazones. The three reagents N-N' bis-salicylaldehyde carbohydrazone (NN'SC), N-N bis-ο-hydroxylacetophenol carbohydrazone (NN'HC) and N-salicylaldehyde-N-ο-hydroxylacetophenol carbohydrazone (NSN'HC) were characterized by nitrogen content, I.R. and melting point determination. Those carbohydrazones were studied spectrophotometrically for possible application to determine some metal ions i.e. Fe (II), Cu (II), V (V), Cr (VI) and Zn (II) using different solvents and media composition. The optimum analytical parameters were established and the interference from some other metal ions was studied. (Author)
