Collective states of even-even nuclei with quadrupole and octupole deformations

Description
Simple analytic expressions for the energies of even and odd rotational-vibrational bands in nuclei with quadrupole and ocutupole deformations are obtained. Expressions for the reduced probability B(E2) of electric quadrupole transitions between the levels of the even and odd bands and for the reduced probability B(E1) of dipole transitions between levels of opposite parity are derived. The calculated values of the level energies and of the ratio B(E1)/B(E2) are in good agreement with the experimental data for thorium and radium isotopes. 29 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab
