The HERA-B tracking detectors
Description
The HERA-B tracking system has to cover a large detection area with high granularity detectors. The new microstrip gas chamber technology with gas electron multiplication (MSGC-GEM) is applied for the first time in a large system and is used in the inner part of the acceptance. The outer part is equipped with large size, small diameter honeycomb drift chambers. The detectors are installed and preliminary results from the first year of operation are reported. (author)
