Description

The effect of the kaolin dosage, pH value, adsorption time and initial Cu2+ concentration on adsorption is studied. The orthogonal experiment results show that the order of factors influencing the removal rate of Cu2+ is pH > adsorption time > amount of kaolinte > initial Cu2+ concentration. The optimum test scheme selected through analysis of orthogonal experiment is as follows: volume of waster water is 100 mL, pH is 7.0, adsorption time is 2 h, the amount of kaolinte is 6.0 g, and initial Cu2+ concentration is 25 mg/L. Under the optimum conditions, the removal rate of Cu2+ reaches 98.9%, the maximum adsorption capacity of Cu2+ is 23.26 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm accords with Langmuir equation, and it is showed that kaolin adsorption on Cu2+ is typical single molecule layer adsorption. (authors)
