Description
This paper presents an experiment carried out to investigate the effect of La2O3 addition to the magnetic and physical properties of strontium ferrite magnets. It was found that the La2O3 addition to SrO · 6Fe2O3 (stoichiometric composition) was very useful in stabilizing the magnetoplumbite structure and that these Sr-La-system ferrites had excellent properties as a permanenent magnet. Compositions were chosen according to the formula [(SrO)1/n+1(Fe2O3)n/n+1]100-x(La2O3)x, where n was varied between 5.0 and 6.5, and x between 0 and 5.0. The optimum conditions for making magnets and some properties of typical specimens are discussed
