Description

Over the last few decades Framatome GmbH has made major contributions to the advancement of the decontamination technology becoming the world leader in this field. The decontamination technology is based on the proprietary CORD (Chemical Oxidation Reduction Decontamination) Family Concept, and is complemented by its specifically designed auxiliary decontamination equipment AMDA (Automated Modular Decontamination Appliance). Framatome has performed several Full System Decontaminations (FSD, the simultaneous treatment of the complete primary circuit and auxiliary systems) in Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and Boiling Water Reactors (BWR) including all internals of different designs prior to dismantling. This paper focus on the specific FSDs recently applied in Japan on PWR Mihama 1 and 2. The experiences and results of these decontamination campaigns prior to dismantling are presented. (authors)
