Description

The results of the experimental investigation of volt-ampere characteristics (VAC) of thermionic converters (TC) with cesium-bismuth-oxygen filling are presented. W(110) served as an emitter of cylindrical TC, polycrystal tungsten - as a collector; intraelectrode gap in the cold state of electrodes was 0.25 mm. The vacuum cesium system allowed to investigate converter's VACs independently both with liquid cesium and with cesium-bismuth-oxygen filling. The analysis of the obtained data allows to make a conclusion that the application of cesium-bismuth-oxygen system as a working medium source in the arc mode of TC operation results in a significant increase (by 40-60%) of output electric power of the converter as compared to purely cesium filling
