Disposal of low-level radioactive biomedical wastes (an Academy Forum held November 24, 1980)
Description
The Academy Forum which is reported here focuses on the disposal of low-level radioactive biomedical wastes. Radioactive isotopes are so useful in biological and medical research and in some kinds of medical treatment that their use has been expanding and now is very large. The disposal of these wastes is a problem because of uncertainty about the continued availability of these sites. There is a concern about the fact that research and medical treatment may be jeopardized by future developments concerning these sites. Other possible means of disposing these low-level wastes are discussed
