Study of fatigue crack propagation in laminated metal composites alluminium 1100/alluminium 2024

Description

A study has been made of fatigue crack propagation in laminated metal composites with different volume fraction of constituents. The composites were produced by hot rolling, combining 1100 and 2024 aluminum alloys in crack divider orientation. Mechanical and metallurgical properties of the composites and original alloys sheets have been evaluated. Paris type relationship, corresponding to stage II of fatigue crack propagation curves, has been determined by two different methods, wich have shown to be equivalent. A computer software in FORTRAN language was developed for all the mathematical manipulation of fatigue data including statistical analysis and graphics. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Efetuou-se um estudo da propagacao de trinca por fadiga em conjugados laminados metalicos com diferentes fracoes volumetricas dos constituintes. Os conjugados foram produzidos por laminacao a quente, combinando as ligas de aluminio 1100 e 2024, na orientacao divisor de trinca. Foram avaliadas as propriedades mecanicas e metalurgicas dos conjugados, assim como das chapas originais de cada liga. As curvas de propagacao de trinca por fadiga foram determinadas no trecho referente ao estagio II, onde e valida a relacao de Paris, segundo dois metodos diferentes, os quais mostraram resultados equivalentes. Um programa computacional em linguagem FORTRAN foi desenvolvido de modo a executar toda a manipulacao matematica dos dados do ensaio de fadiga, incluindo analise estatistica e impressao de graficos.
