Description
The Kapchinsky-Vladimirsky (K-V) beam propagation through a periodic focusing channel is studied using the particle-in-cell (PIC) code and the logarithm-function controller. The results show that the radial ion density is uniform and the ion density distribution has nothing to do with any region where the controlling information comes from. This provides a reference for detector and target material deployments in experimenting with high intensity ion beams. (authors)
