Positron emission tomography (PET) of the myocardium

Description

This article gives a survey of the developments in positron emission tomography (PET) of the myocardium. The use of C11 labelled palmitic acid (CPA); I123 labelled heptadecanoic acid (IHA) and (p-Br75-phenyl) pentadecanoic acid (BPPA) for myocardial imaging are compared. Radioactively labelled fatty acids or -glucose are described in measuring regional myocardial metabolism by means of PET. Results of the applications of C11-methyl-D-glucose and F18-2-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose are discussed. (Auth.)
