Development of an Unauthorized Export Surveillance System of Radioactive Waste by RFID

Description

The Advanced Radiation Technology Institute (ARTI) has developed an integrated radioactive waste management system that manages a series of processes from production and purchase to use and treatment of radioactive waste. From the production and purchase of unopened radioisotopes, management numbers are assigned and barcodes and QR codes are attached. From use to disposal, and the resulting radioactive waste, all traces are managed. In recent years, RFID is used to automatically wirelessly identify items such as shipments in various industrial fields, especially logistics and distribution. Barcodes and QR codes are recognized only from a short distance, so the history of radioactive waste managed by the Advanced Radiation Research Center can be checked, but it was difficult to confirm the movement and unauthorized removal. Accordingly, an unauthorized export surveillance system of radioactive waste was developed to actively respond to the movement and unauthorized removal of radioactive waste by introducing RFID
