Current cystic duct stump diagnosis

  • 1. Ustredni Vojenska Nemocnice, Prague (Czechoslovakia)

Description

In the years 1980 to 1985 examinations of the biliary ducts in eight cases showed a residual cystic duct stump. Of the imaging methods, cholescintigraphy is considered to be the best screening method while instrumental cholangiography almost in all cases allows to draw definite diagnostic conclusions as concerns the morphological and frequently also the functional state of the biliary ducts, including the cystic duct stump. Differential diagnosis should be applied to exclude other sources of complaints. Such sources of complaints should be eliminated and only then is it possible to indicate reoperation for removal of the cystic duct stump. Regression of symptoms will then confirm the correctness of the diagnosis. (author)
