Investigation of the process of gadolinium oxyiodide synthesis
- 1. Universitet Druzhby Narodov, Moscow (USSR)
Description
Process of iodizing the mixture of metal gadolinium and gadolinium oxide by elementary iodine, using DTA technique within the temperature range of 25 to 100 deg C is investigated. Gadolinium oxyiodide formation proceeds in two stages: at 160-260 deg C metal reacts with iodine, resulting in gadolinium iodide formation; at 330-380 deg C the iodide produced reacts with gadolinium oxide. The DTA data are confirmed by X-ray methods as well as by crystallooptical and chemical analyses
