Description
The medical irradiation field at the reactor of Musashi Institute of Technology was designed from 1974 to 1975. Change of absorbed radiation dose on medical irradiation with the change of neutron energy spectrum is reviewed focussing on the analyses and experimental data. The neutron energy spectrum in the medical irradiation field at the Musashi reactor are measured by the TOF method. Absorbed dose and mean irradiation time during medical irradiation are calculated. Critical points in boron neutron capture therapy are discussed including neutron fluence required for the therapy, background dose and determination of the irradiation time. Features of LiF-filtered epithermal neutron beam are presented and the irradiation time is redefined for the LiF-filtered beam. (T.H.)
