Encouraging results of radioiodine therapy in a 12-year-old boy with papillary carcinoma of the thyroid and pulmonary metastases

The presented case report describes a 12-year-old boy with papillary thyroid carcinoma and lung metastases. Since the performance of primary therapy including surgery and double radioiodine therapy, up to now stable disease has been documented by negative iodine scans, decreasing TG values and normalizing chest X-rays, including CT. Abstract (German)
Die vorliegende Kasuistik beschreibt den bisher guenstigen Verlauf eines 12jaehrigen Kindes mit papillaerem Schilddruesenkarzinom und speichernden Lungenmetastasen. Nach Primaertherapie durch Thyreoidektomie und zweimaliger Radiojodgabe findet sich derzeit kein Progress: Fehlende Radiojodspeicherung in der Lunge, Normalisierung von Roentgenbild und CT, abfallende Tumormarkerspiegel (TG). Anhand dieses Falles werden Besonderheiten des papillaeren Schilddruesenkarzinoms im Kindesalter diskutiert. (orig.)Additional details
