Spatial distribution of nucleons in 90Zr and 208Pb nuclei from elastic scattering of 1.0 GeV protons

Description
Differential cross sections are measured for elastic scattering of 1 Gev protons on 90Zr and 208Pb nuclei. The experimental data are analysed in the framework of the Glauber diffraction theory. Parameters are determined for the space distributions of the nuclear matter density and for the neutron distributions. The obtained difference of the r.m.s. values for the neutron and proton distributions Δ for 90Zr and 208Pb amounts to Δ 90 = 0.09+-0.05 fm and Δ 208 = 0.03+-0.05 fm, respectively
