Silicon Vertex Detector Upgrade for the PHENIX Experiment at RHIC

  • 1. RIKEN - Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Wako, Saitama 351-0198 (Japan)

Description

We propose to build a Silicon Vertex Detector for PHENIX experiment at RHIC. The proposed detector covers |η| < 2.7 in pseudo-rapidity. With this upgrade, PHENIX will be able to improve its ability to measure heavy flavor production in p + p, p + A, and A + A collisions, and will be able to measure gluon distribution G(x) in much wider x range
