Construction programme of nuclear power plants in Czechoslovakia

The plan of the development of nuclear power in Czechoslovakia envisages that in the year 2000 the installed capacity of nuclear power plants will reach 11,280 MW and in the year 2005 16,280 MW. The share of nuclear power plants in the total electric power production will thus be 53.8% in the year 2000 and 66.2% in the year 2005. It is also envisaged that these nuclear power plants will also be used to a considerable extent as heat supply sources. The economic requirements are discussed of various variants of covering the Czechoslovak power needs. The analysis shows that the variant based on the development of nuclear power is the least expensive. Briefly described are the locations of nuclear power plants which should be built following the construction of the Temelin plant. They include Kecerovce (Eastern Slovakia), Opatovice (Eastern Bohemia) and Blahutovice (Northern Moravia). (Z.M.). 2 tabs
