Description

One of the problems faced by RSG-GAS secondary pump is corrosion. To reduce a corrosion rate in RSG-GAS secondary pump, it is needed a special treatment by adding an inhibitor-inhibitor chemical in the secondary cooling of the reactor. For RSG-Gas reactor, it was used Nalco 23226 as a corrosion reducer. Since the characteristics of the Nalco inhibitor is very unique, a certain concentration of it should be investigated. Therefore, this research work was then carried out. The research work was done by measuring the flow rate of corrosion and applying potensional M 273 which is completed with softcorr corrosion measurement software M342 with the use of polarization resistant method. A plate circular sample with 1.5 cm diameter and made of carbon steel DIN ST 35.8 was sink into a verified water with the various concentration of Nalco 23226. The experiments showed that the optimum condition was the water using concentration Nalco 23226 100 ppm resulting in the minimum corrosion rate. This indicated that the use of a certain concentration of Nalco 23226 as the corrosion reducer for the RSG-Gas secondary cooling pump was indeed proven
