Generalized coherent states and the control of quantum systems

Description

The control problem for linear and nonlinear Schroedinger equations is considered. The controls are given by applying a spatially homogeneous field or varying the frequency of a quadratic trapping potential. It is demonstrated that the existence of (exact or approximate) coherent-state-type solutions may severely limit the degree to which the system can be controlled
