The following are reported: reactions of methyl cations with ethylsilanes; reactions of ethyl, propyl, and butyl cations with methyl and ethylsilanes; the 147-nanometer photolysis of disilane; lifetimes and collisional stabilization of chemically activated ethylsilyl cations; formation of GeH5+ and the proton affinity of GeH4; and multiphoton infrared decomposition of silanes
