Description

Three hundred new samples of marine evaporite sulfate, of world-wide distribution, were analyzed for delta34S, and 60 of these also for delta18O in the sulfate ion. Detailed delta34S age curves for Tertiary-Cretaceous, Permian-Pennsylvanian, Devonian, Cambrian and Proterozoic times document large variations in delta34S. A summary curve for delta18O also shows definite variations, some at different times than delta34S, and always smaller. (Auth.)
