Pulsed cathodoluminescence of diamonds

Description

Paper presents the results of experimental investigation into pulse cathodoluminescence (PCL) of diamonds. PCL was induced via irradiation of specimens at room temperature air by 2 nc duration and ∼ 120 keV average electron energy electron beam at ≥ 200 A/cm2 current density. It is pointed out that PCL is characterized by intensity that is by 5-6 orders higher and thus, there are practically no non-luminescent diamonds. At recording under quasi-continuous conditions PCL spectra are like spectra of X-luminescence. At pulse recording one managed to record clearly expressed electron-oscillation structure and to present its interpretation. Besides certain electron-vibration bands one managed to detect a new series of lines and to discuss their nature. 9 refs., 1 fig., 1 tab
