Reactor coolant cleanup system
Description
Purpose: To decrease the radiation dose by controlling the electric conductivity of coolants in a coolant cleanup system of a BWR type reactor. Constitution: Since the corrosion rate of pipeways can be decreased by reducing the electric conductivity of reactor water to less than 0.3 μs / cm, ionic impurities which cause the electric conductivity to increase in the coolant cleanup system are eliminated. The processing flow rate forms a predominant factor for determining the elimination performance. Then, in order to increase the processing flow rate, a desalinator using activated carbon incorporated with oxine as ion exchanger workable at high temperature is employed in the coolant cleanup system. Then, the cleanup system flow rate is controlled so that the electric conductivity of the reactor water is adjusted to a desired value. (Ikeda, J.)
