Some aspects of nuclear ion--ion potentials

  • 1. Univ. of California, Los Angeles

Description

The nuclear aspects of ion-ion interactions at low and high energies are discussed. Specific models, including Glauber theory, the droplet model, and the black sphere model, are briefly considered. It is concluded that high energy heavy ion-ion scattering experiments may shed light on the behavior of high density nuclear matter and possibly also on high energy behavior of effective nucleon-nucleon interactions, and of nuclear transparencies.
