Solvent extraction of Nb(V) with 5,7-dichloro 8-hydroxy quinoleine

Description
Distribution coefficient of Nb(V) (95Nb) in the two phase systems: chlorooxine-CHCl3/(H+, Li+, Cl-, ClO4-) ionic strength 6 has been measured as a function of the classical parameters used in solvent extraction. We discuss how to interpret these data taking into account interaction of chelating agent with H+ and Cl- and the mean activity coefficient of HCl in the HClO4 + HCl and LiCl + HCl aqueous phases. Oxychlorocomplexes of Nb(V) in HCl 6M seem to bear charge minus one and to be third and quarter order

L'interpretation du partage du niobium pentavalent dans les systemes biphases: chlorooxine - CHCl3/milieux aqueux (H+, Li+, Cl-, ClO4-) de force ionique 6, est discutee, compte tenu des interactions du chelatant avec les ions H+ et Cl- et de la variation du coefficient d'activite thermodynamique de HCl dans les milieux HClO4 + HCl et LiCl + HCl.
