Ultra short electron beam generation and diagnostics of pulse shape at UTNL LINAC

  • 1. Tokyo Univ., Tokai, Ibaraki (Japan). Nuclear Engineering Research Lab

Description

It is now possible to produce a 240 fs 18 MeV electron pulse using the femtosecond twin linacs at Nuclear Engineering Research Laboratory (NERL), at University of Tokyo. Regarding the diagnostics, a femtosecond streak camera, a coherent transition radiation (CTR) interferometer and a CTR polychromator have been used to measure the short electron pulses. In this study, the reliability of these three devices is precisely examined. Most updated fluctuation method which utilizes the incoherent radiation is also explained. (author)
