Quality assurance in production and use of TLDs in individual monitoring

  • 1. Calibration and Dose Records Section, Radiological Physics and Advisory Div., Bhabha Atomic research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Study on the effect of thermal treatment on the structure of glow peak and the TL sensitivity indicates that the lattice of CaSO4: Dy phosphor is more dynamic to thermal treatment at around 400 degC than at temperature in the ranges from 230 degC to 300 degC and 500 degC to 700 degC. Annealing procedures for CaSO4: Dy TLDs in different configuration (loose TLD phosphor, Teflon TLD discs, TLD cards) have been confirmed. Hitherto practiced treatment of 400 degC -1 h was found unsuitable for reuse and retesting of TLD phosphor. (author)
