Description

Events with a large rapidity gap have been studied in the H 1 and ZEUS detectors. Exclusive vector meson have been observed both in DIS and photoproduction events. The cross section and differential cross sections have been measured. ρ0 production in DIS shows a faster rise than ρ0 in photoproduction as a function of the γp centre of mass energy. The large rapidity gap events represent about 10% of all deep inelastic scattering events, and they have the same Q2 behaviour. These events are consistent with leading twist as exhibited in the total DIS sample. In a jet study of DIS and photoproduction, two jet production is observed and demonstrate the presence of hard scattering in the virtual photon proton interactions that give rise to large rapidity gap events
