Description
There is intense research in the development of three-dimensional dosimeters, which allow the determination of the spatial distribution of the deposited dose. In this context, Fricke-Gel dosimeters, composed of an aqueous solution of ferrous sulfate (Fe2+) in a gel matrix, have been studied because they have good sensitivity and are tissue equivalent. When they are added with a chelating agent, such as xylenol orange (XO), they allow the use of optical techniques to determine the deposited dose. In this work, we studied the effect of the addition of amino acids in the formulation of Fricke-Gel with PVA-GTA matrix with XO as a binding agent. Our results demonstrate a considerable increase in dose sensitivity, without significantly impacting dosimeter stability and diffusion. (author)
