Transient and equilibrium cycle characteristics on Paks uprated power units with 2nd generation of Gadolinia fuel
Description
A power up rating project actually in progress on PAKS NPP units in Hungary. Nominal power of Unit 4 and 1 has already increased to 1485 MWt h (500 MW e), it is the 108% of former nominal power. In order to provide economic fuel cycle on up rated power, Paks tends to introduce higher enriched fuel. The fuel has modified geometry offered by fuel vendor, the pin wise enrichment profile is slightly modified according to Paks requirements. Actually the safety analysis works of modified fuel introduction are going on. In frame of this work the transient cycle containing 'old' and modified fuel and the new equilibrium cycles are determined. The main features of transient and equilibrium cycles are introduced in this report. The calculations has been made by modified C-PORCA code taking into account different length of new and old fuel. The cross section libraries are prepared by HELIOS (Authors)
