Description
The paper and presentation Waste Conditioning Technologies for Preparation for Long-Term Storage and Disposal in the Russian Federation by P. Poluektov from Research Institute of Inorganic Materials, Russia. The paper reviewed the classification and conditioning technologies of various types of RW in Russia. For example, a newly designed concrete container for interim storage and disposal of low and intermediate RW was described. Different technologies of liquid RW treatment were described, in particular, vitrification of high level waste at the Production Association Mayak. The paper informed on the efforts to develop new technologies in Russia, for example, a cold crucible induction melter for treatment of high level liquid RW.
