Description

A brief outline of a procedure to test the statistical significance of the Chree Analysis results is given. It is demonstrated that even in the absence of a persistent signal, ordinary statistical procedures can lead to the erroneous conclusion that there is a significant variation ('signal') in the Chree analysis result. The root cause of this problem is that cosmic ray data are not sequentially independent
