Description
An experimental study for ablation dominated arcs operated at current of 100 kA is presented. For currents above a certain limit the influence of pinch pressure, caused by the self-induced magnetic field of the arc, can not be neglected. Therefore special attention has been taken to investigate the influence of the pinch pressure to an isothermal two-zone arc model. Results are presented for the model parameter θ and hυap, as well as for arc temperature Tarc and relative arc area φ. (author)
