The influence of dose and dose rate on metabolic processes in maize roots studied by 31P NMR spectroscopy

Description

In the last 10 years more and more attention was given to somatic action of ionizing radiation. In this field one of the most interesting topics is the influence of irradiation on metabolic processes. One of the basic metabolic processes is the phosphate metabolism which includes the energy rich phosphate compounds as ATP, ADP and others. Phosphorus NMR spectra of plant material can provide information regarding the cellular phosphate compounds which participate in tissue metabolism as reviewed e.g. by Loughman (1984).
