The NG-150 neutron generator (design peculiarities and separate unit test results)

Description

Given are a description of design peculiarities of the NG-150 neutron generator and test results of its separate units. The NG-150 represents a closed-type facility with 150 kV accelerating voltage and maximum neutron yield of 2x1011 n/s from T(d,n)He4 reaction. As an ion source a duoplasmatron is used, the design peculiarity of which is the usage of cermet seams for vacuum connection of anode and in intermediate electrode, as well as current lead-in in a cathode unit. Operation experience has shown, that anode unit provides the reliable source operation during 700-1000 h. The design peculiarity of an accelerating tube is the mounting of extracting and focusing electrodes. A target chamber provides a circular target motion in respect of a beam at 100 r/min velocity. Presented are the test results of a duoplasmatron ion source accelerator, ion-optical system and target unit. Operation experience has shown, that the NG-150 meets the requirements for neutron sources, used for the activation analyses
