First Rb-Sr data for ongorhyolites from Mongolia

Description

A rubidium-strontium isotope dating of acid volcanites from the South Mongolia is carried out. Samples of effusions and their glasses are studied. Ages from 107 to 125 mln yrs, pointing to the fact that acid volcanites from the South Mongolia have been formed in the early Cretaceous period. It agrees satisfactorily with potassium - argon dating (115-118 mln yrs.) The first ratio of 87Sr/86Sr is calculated: 0.7084-07237 is effusions and 0.7185 - in glasses, that points to the crustal source of strontium. At the same time the pallial source of the material of Cretaceous basalts with 87Sr/86Sr=0.7044-0.7059 is obvious
