Evaluation of the Bragg law fluctuation at the calculation of proton slowing-down in SiO2

Description

In simple examples with SiO2 crystal the Bragg law is shown to increase the value of energy losses by particles moving in matter. The Bragg law fluctuations, reaching at low energies 20-30% with further proton energy increase, decrease gradually and they make up less than 2-3% for Ep > 600 keV. The importance of taking into account polarization of frames in dielectrics is pointed out. 2 refs., 2 figs
