On-line system for measurement of optical fiber parameters during its elongation

Description
Given is a description of sensor operation principles and general flowsheet of fiber elongation installation, in which automatized in the process of measuring the external fiber diameter, the value of summary light losses and their distribution along the light guide length, elongation rate and fiber length. The automatization system is developed on the basis of modules in the CAMAC standard. The installation made it possible to obtain for the first time the data on the properties of the optical fiber in the process of its production. Presented are certain results of fiber parameter investigations, carried out by means of the automatized installation. Obtained are primary results on fiber diameter stabilization by the control system, varying the elongation rate depending on the value and direction of the diameter drift rate
