Indoor radon and its short-lived daughter products measurements in the urban dwellings of Northern India

Description

Radon and its progeny have been recognized as one of the major contributors to the natural radiation and health hazards in the human dwellings, if it is present in enhanced levels. Measurements of indoor radon and its progeny have been carried out using the cellulose nitrate plastic track detectors, LR-115 type-II in the urban dwellings of the Etah district of Uttar Pradesh province in Northern India. The detectors were used in bare mode and exposed in the dwellings. The detectors were retrieved and analyzed in our laboratory for the calculation of radon and its progeny. The results have been compared with the results found out in the rural areas of the same district. (author)
