Implementation of PENTRAN on distributed memory architectures

  • 1. Pennsylvania State Univ., University Park, PA (United States)

Description

It is described how the new PENTRAN code has been developed to run on distributed memory/distributed computing architectures. Main features of the code include the use of Message Passing Interface (MPI), use of ANSI standard FORTRAN-77 for easy code portability, and built-in partitioned memory and communications management for scalable parallel operation on any parallel architecture or network-coupled workstation cluster. Testing of the code has shown that PENTRAN has a 98% parallel fraction using the design features described here. (author)
