Description

Experimental data for elastic scattering angular distribution and fusion excitation functions as well as different secondary observables exists in the literature for various systems at near barrier energies. In recent years, large amount of theoretical model calculations have been performed to explain individual experimental observable through channel coupling. However, there is little progress in explaining the different experimental observations simultaneously. As reactions involving weakly bound projectiles have larger probability of direct reactions compared to their strongly bound counterpart, the systems with weakly bound projectiles are the better candidates to understand the effect of channel coupling on reaction observables. In a very recent calculation, we have shown the effect of transfer and breakup coupling on fusion and elastic scattering simultaneously for the weakly bound stable projectile 6Li, having breakup threshold 1.47 MeV with medium mass target 64Ni. The measurements for fusion and elastic scattering angular distributions are present in the literature for another weakly bound stable projectile 7Li, having slightly higher breakup threshold of 2.47 MeV with the same target 64Ni at near barrier energies. In this context, we have performed the coupled channel calculation for the system 7Li+ 64Ni at near barrier energies. The calculations have performed for different channel coupling modes using the computational reaction code FRESCO. In the present work, we have attempted to understand the relative strength of among different direct reaction channel couplings. The comparison of these observables with the same for the projectile 6Li will shed light on effect of breakup threshold on reaction mechanism. Apart from the breakup threshold, another difference between these two projectiles is that 7Li has one bound excited state with excitation energy 478 keV compared to none for 6Li. The effect of this excited state along with the other results of coupled channel calculation will be presented in the conference. (author)
