Description
The underlying principles of nuclear physics (atomic structure, radioactivity, activity) are described. The generation of energy by nuclear fission and the controlled chain reaction are dealt with. Subsequently the types of reactors which have gained wide acceptance (boiling water, pressurized water reactor, gas-cooled reactor) and the advanced types (high-temperature reactor, fast breeder) are discussed. Nach Darstellung der kernphysikalischen Grundlagen (Atomaufbau, Radioaktivitaet, Aktivitaet) werden die Energiegewinnung durch Kernspaltung sowie die kontrollierte Kettenreaktion behandelt. Anschliessend wird auf die Reaktortypen, die sich durchgesetzt haben (Siede-, Druckwasserreaktor, gasgekuehlter Reaktor) und die fortgeschrittenen Typen (Hochtemperaturreaktor, Schneller Brueter) eingegangen.
