Thermal shield in nuclear power plant
Description
The present invention concerns thermal shields in a BWR type power plant. When thermal shields are constructed, a hollow cylindrical space is formed by at least inner and outer double cylindrical heat resistant metal plates. Then, previously manufactured thermal shielding blocks made of concretes are carried in the hollow cylindrical space, a plurality of thermal shielding blocks are stacked with no gaps and completed. Then, upon dismantling of the thermal shields, the thermal shielding blocks are hung up and carried out from the hollow cylindrical space for removal. Since the thermal shielding blocks made of concretes are thus protected by the heat resistant metal plates, corrosion of concretes due to high temperature is less caused. Accordingly, collapse and scattering of concrete materials upon dismantling are prevented. Moreover, they are constructed and dismantled easily by using a simple hanging device. (I.N.)
