Development of an ultrasoft x-ray source with a field emission electron gun

Description
An ultrasoft X-ray source has been developed, which uses a field emission electron gun with a bundle of 7 μm diameter carbon fibers. Beams of quasi-monochromatic X-rays have been got with targets of Si, Al, Ti, Fe, Ni, and Cu. Characteristics of position sensitive proportional counters can be measured reliably with this X-ray source. (author)
