Corrosion resistance of super stainless steels for power plant condensers

  • 1. Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., Osaka (Japan)

Description

High chromium and high molybdenum-containing stainless steels, so-called super stainless steels, have been widely used as materials for condenser tubing at power plants cooled with seawater in the U.S.A. Investigations were made on the possible adoption of super stainless steel tubes for condensers in Japan. This paper describes the results of the studies to elucidate the problems and their countermeasures when such tubings are applied to the installation of condensers. (author)
