Placing innovative nuclear reactors into communities

Description

Placing innovative nuclear reactors into communities could do so much more than just cost effectively displace their use of fossil fuels; they could transform those communities while keeping them emissions free. By taking a lead in this field Canada could achieve policy objectives in greenhouse gas avoidance, in assistance to developing nations and in improving northern communities while simultaneously creating a new knowledge based manufacturing economy and increasing sales of natural resources. But placing reactors into a community will amplify the historic concerns about nuclear technology and if these new reactors are to be successful these concerns must be addressed. Saskatchewan's role in dealing with these issues of engagement is presented. (author)
