Description

2-deoxy- D-glucose (2- DG) has been established as a potent adjuvant for enhancing efficacy of cancer radiotherapy due to its differential radiosensitization of tumour cells. In the present study, effects of 2-DG on low-dose hyper-radiosensitivity (HRS) and induced radioresistance (IRR) were investigated in two human glioma cell lines BMG-l and U87, which display increased sensitivity at gamma-radiation doses below 50cGy. This study demonstrates that hyper-radiosensitivity (HRS) and induced radioresistance (IRR) as well as the adaptive resistance induced at low doses can be effectively modulated by 2-DG in vitro
