Wear and ageing of high-pressure seals in reactor coolant pumps

Description

Abrasion and aging of high-pressure shaft seals in reactor coolant pumps have been studied. The safe functioning of the high-pressure shaft seals strongly affects the operability of the reactor coolant pumps. The criteria for abrasion and aging of high-pressure seals are presented in this paper. Hydrostatic as well as hydrodynamic seals are taken into consideration. (author)
